What Are Film Simulations?

Fujifilm cameras are famous for their "film simulations"—built-in effects that recreate the look of classic photographic films. Each simulation has its own unique colors and characteristics: Velvia for vivid landscapes, Classic Chrome for elegant portraits, Acros for dramatic black and whites, and many more.

With my digital emulations, you can apply all of these looks to your shots, no matter what camera you use.

What Makes These Emulations Special

Unmatched Color Accuracy
These aren’t just simple color preset. We've scientifically analyzed how real Fujifilm cameras process color, using professional tools and hundreds of color samples. The result? Accuracy so high that the difference from the original is virtually invisible to the human eye (technically less than 1 Delta E—meaning imperceptible difference).

For the first time ever, Fujifilm film looks are available in the following enhanced variants:

• Chroma: for deeper or lighter reds

• Chrome Blue: to adjust blue tones and skies

• Dynamic Range: to control highlight handling (DR100 for standard contrast, DR200 and DR400 for higher dynamic range)

Full Controls for Each Simulation

For color simulations, each film offers every possible combination of:

• 3 Chroma (saturation) levels: Normal, Low, High

• 3 Chrome Blue levels: Normal, Low, High

• 3 Dynamic Range levels: DR100, DR200, DR400
  Total: 27 combinations per color simulation

For black & white simulations, you get:

• 4 color filter options: None, Yellow, Red, Green (just like traditional filters)

• 3 Dynamic Range levels: DR100, DR200, DR400
  Total: 12 variants per black & white simulation

For Sepia:

• 3 Dynamic Range levels: DR100, DR200, DR400
  Total: 3 variants

In short, you get 324 of different presets allowing you to fine-tune each simulation exactly as you would on a real Fujifilm camera—or even more, since all combinations are included in one package.

For Fujifilm Owners Too

Even if you already own a Fujifilm camera, these emulations are still useful! Many new film simulations aren’t available on older models. With our emulations, you can virtually “upgrade” your camera and apply the latest simulations to your images.

How They Work

The emulations process your RAW files using Kroma Pro DNG profiles, which work in a wide color space called ProPhoto RGB.

This means richer colors and smoother transitions. In rare cases, with highly saturated colors, you might notice very slight differences from the original film simulation—but these are virtually imperceptible in most situations.

What You Need to Use Them

Important: These emulations do not work on their own. You need the Kroma Pro DNG profiles specific to your camera model already installed in Camera Raw, Lightroom, or Lightroom Classic.

Think of DNG profiles as “translations” that let your software understand how your specific camera sees color. Every camera model captures colors differently, so a dedicated profile is required to standardize them.

Without the correct DNG profile for your camera, the Fujifilm emulations will not function properly.
